Ritolia, the CMD of Central Coalfield Ltd ( CCL) has achieved the miracle of turning a loss making PSU into a profit-making unit.

All this has been possible for the pragmatic programmes and strategies being pursued by the visionary CMD. He effected some drastic changes in the set-up that ensured improvement in production, productivity, sales realisation and labour conditions. Though the company's net worth turned negative in 2001-02 after continuous losses for more than three successive years, the Ranchi-based PSU registered its best ever production and profitability during the financial year 2004-05.

 

Thanks to the practical and effective leadership of Ritolia, the total turnover of the Company during 2004-05 was Rs 3999.32 crore as against Rs 3488.52 crore a year back (2003-04). He has added vital energy to the PSU. He has brought about a total change in the very mindset of the workers in the PSU. He infused a new blood into their veins that prompted them to work harder and faster to put CCL again on the past of profitability.

And the kudos for this massive success of the PSU goes to the CMD for his inexhaustible reservoir of inspiration to the workers. Interestingly, Ritolia has placed the PSU on a profitable track when a number of other PSUs are falling into the net of disinvestments mainly because of non-performance. He has a success story in the form of CCL, which needs to be told even to the top corporate honchos.
