For a man of action, it is not the survival but the excellence which matters. And Frederic Lalanne, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Alstom Projects India Limited, is one of those men who have always looked forward for excellence in his professional life.

Armed with an MS from the University of Angers, France in 1988 and MBA from University of Paris Sorbonne in 1990, Lalanne has sharpened his managerial skills with Masters in International Politics from University of Brussels, Belgium.

Lalanne joined the ALSTOM Group, the no 2. in equipment and services for power generation in India, in 2005, as the Vice President, Sales and Marketing. Thanks to his managerial caliber, in 2006, he was appointed as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Alstom Projects India Limited (APIL). He has also been made Chairman of the Board of NASL, a joint venture between NTPC and ALSTOM.

Since then, this celebrated corporate chief has been steering the leading house that employs some 3000 people in Mumbai, New Delhi, Vadodara, Durgapur, Shahabad and Kolkata. ALSTOM is also by far, the worldwide leader in Clean Power solutions.

Constantly upgrading his corporate skill for the last two decades, Lalanne has been holding various positions in Sales and Marketing Management within several companies such as Philips, Pirelli Cables in Paris. A career profile filled with much zeal and thrill, Lalanne has been learning to tread the track of success with every new assignment keeping in mind the numerous challenges the corporate competition has unfolded against the backdrop of globalization.

In fact, a glance into his career graph reveals how diverse role he has been playing in the corporate world. Thus in 1996, Lalanne joined Pauwels Transformer in Belgium as Commercial Director for the Distribution Transformer Division. Later, he served in 2000 as Commercial Director for Asia Pacific region, based in Jakarta, Indonesia before moving back to Belgium to become Managing Director of Pauwels Distribution Transformer Division and then Managing Director of Pauwels European operations. Again in August 2004, he became International Sales Director for Cegelec, in Brussels - Belgium.
