Dr. Ajit K. Nagpal is a Harvard graduate with preparation in Medicine, Health Policy and Management, and Hospital Administration. His principal interests include global and national health policy, financing of health services, regional health planning, and hospital planning and development. His lifetime endeavors have been focused on optimizing the use of technology and human skills in achieving the highest standards of technical efficiency, clinical effectiveness and quality in the delivery of healthcare.

Presently: Dr. Nagpal is the Chairman of the Executive Council of Batra Hospital and Medical Research Center, New Delhi, a 500 bedded non-profit, tertiary and quaternary care referral hospital serving the community for the past two decades. Dr. Nagpal is also the Chairman of the Wellogic, an award winning Healthcare Information Technology Corporation having its Headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA and providing the best-of-class interoperable and scalable clinical solutions poised to seamlessly network hospitals, physician practices, patients and payers. Dr. Nagpal is also the Chairman of CII Healthcare Sub-committee on Public Private Partnerships entrusted the responsibility of exploring the avenues of collaboration between the Public and Private sectors of the Healthcare Industry and recommending Health Policy initiatives to harness the potentials of PPP to stimulate investment in health sector and provide universal access to healthcare.

Until Recently: Dr. Nagpal was the Principal Advisor on Health Policy & Hospital Affairs to the Ministry of Health, United Arab Emirates for more than a decade, and during his tenure he advised the Ministry in defining its mission and formulating its health policies and strategies. While in the Ministry of Health he chaired a number of Technical Committees on various strategic issues concerned with Health Policy and Management and Hospital Planning and Development. He also chaired the Technical Committees of the Ministry of Health on Development of National Health Insurance Program and Autonomization of Public Hospitals.

He also represented the Ministry of Health on the Inter-Ministerial Committee for formulation and implementation of the National Health Insurance Policy in the United Arab Emirates. He was also the Member Secretary of the Working Group responsible for Health Sector Reforms in the country with a focus on structural reforms in the Ministry of Health, mobilization of additional financial resources for the health sector and promotion of the private sector in the delivery of healthcare. Dr. Nagpal was honored to be a Member of the three-member Condensed Committee of H. H. Sheikh Hamad bin Zayed Al Nahyan constituted to draft legislation for autonomizing of Public hospitals and formation of Abu Dhabi General Authority for Healthcare Services. Dr. Nagpal was also the Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Council of Welcare World Health Systems, engaged in the development and management of a comprehensive and integrated multi-specialty healthcare delivery network in the Gulf region, which included two major hospitals in prestigious Dubai Health Care City.

Formerly: Dr. Nagpal was the Secretary of Health to the Government of Jammu & Kashmir of the Indian Union, and the founder Director and CEO of the Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar, a 600-bedded teaching hospital, a postgraduate medical school and a deemed university established in 1982.

He was also the Member, Medical Council of India, the statutory body for accreditation of medical education in India; and Chairman, Hospital Planning Sectoral Committee, Bureau of Indian Standards, the statutory body for regulating National Standards in the country. Dr. Nagpal was also the Chairman & Managing Director of Hospitalia Eastern Limited, an affiliate of Hospitalia International Gmbh, Germany and a leading organization engaged in planning and development of hospitals in South Asia. Extensively traveled over 20 countries of North America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and South East Asia, Dr. Nagpal is credited for planning and development of more than 30 hospitals. He has published extensively and has authored many project reports and feasibility studies.

Dr. Nagpal has delivered over 50 invitational guest lectures at the professional conferences and renowned European and North American academic medical centers, and has chaired a number of international conferences and seminars on topical issues concerned with healthcare financing, health sector reforms and hospital planning, development, management & operation.
