Administration is the very fabric of social life and the dynamic of history. For, it's the foundation of a civil society, which gets mentioned in a nation's history. And when it comes to governing a nation's administration, there are few who could match the skills and calibre of B. K. Chaturvedi, Cabinet Secretary, Govt. of India, who has steered the course of the country towards peace, progress and development. Under the direct charge of the Prime Minister, Chaturvedi like all his predecessors, who happen to be the ex-officio Chairman of the Civil Services, has been instrumental in spearheading numerous developmental projects with a view of giving better governance to the country.
A 1966 batch IAS officer from UP cadre, Chaturvedi has made a mission of his life to bring honesty and integrity to the civil services and restore it its pristine glory. A Master's degree holder in physics from Allahabad University with specialisation in electronics, Chaturvedi studied Public Administration at Manchester University, UK to acquire administrative skills and to make himself a better administrator. Starting his career as an Associate Professor in physics from Engineering College of Allahabad University, Chaturvedi qualified for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1966 with flying colours and since then he hasn't looked back. A soft-spoken person, Chaturvedi believes that no country can bloom and prosper until its teeming millions are taken care of and that's the reason he has made his life mission to give the country a better governance.
Chaturvedi, having served in various capacities, including the Finance Secretary in the Uttar Pradesh Government, joined the Central Government in 1984 and held several senior assignments.
